Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana (BCBSMT) provides tools to help you communicate with us conveniently any time you have questions.

When you log in to your Blue Access for MembersSM (BAMSM) account, you will see two options for reaching out to us.

On the left side of your screen, you will see a Message Center tab. After you click on that tab, you will see an orange “Create New Message” button. You can email a secure message to our customer service team, 24/7. You can generally expect a response within two to three business days.

If you don’t want to wait two to three days but you still prefer not to call, a live chat function is also available in BAM Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT. So when you want to ask a quick question, fire up that laptop or tablet and ping us.

If you are on the go, open your BCBSMT App on your mobile device. Once logged in, select Messages in your dashboard to send us a message. The Message Center also stores messages for when you want to look back and remind yourself what you asked or how we responded. Don’t have the BCBSMT App yet? Your Doctor May Offer Communication Tools, Too

Some provider offices may also provide a website or portal where you can communicate securely with doctors or staff. 

In fact, individual physicians may ask you to use their portal instead of email to comply with privacy laws.

In addition to secure messaging, doctor portals sometimes include options such as:

  • Wellness reminders based on your personal medical records. Reminders may include annual flu shots, annual wellness visits, and other screenings or tests your doctor may want you to have.
  • Appointment scheduling
  • Prescription details and renewal requests
  • Test results
  • Billing

Not all providers offer these tools, but it may be worth asking about.
